The room — which is actually a house — had two bedrooms and two living rooms. It also had a washing machine and dryer. The reception is located in the last of the houses, and the staff were very friendly and helped us with everything we needed. We chose to stay in this house to have the experience of staying in a traditional Japanese home, and it was worth it. Although the house feels a bit old, it’s a good alternative to regular hotels.

The machiya was spacious and comfortable and made us feel right at home. All facilities were easy to use and clean. Housekeeping made sure that we had fresh towels every day, which was especially useful in the Kyoto heat. The house is tucked away in a quiet residential street off of Senbondori, where several busses connect residents to the city centre and train stations across the city. Would definitely book again!

Nathalie

The most gorgeous little traditional home for our group. This accommodation was a highlight of our trip. Be mindful that it is quite far from the closest station, and will take around 40 minutes to walk into the centre of town. Floor sleeping arrangements were actually quite comfortable!

Isabella

This house is a real gem loved by its owners. Everything was spotless, staff changed towels and take out litter every day. All facilities were working. It was a real pleasure to live there for four days. We could also leave our luggage longer after checking out. Highly recommend!

Katarzyna

Super quiet and relaxing. This is a traditional Japanese home, so know what you’re signing up for. Tatami + Futon beds and western beds upstairs. Spacious digs in such a vibrant city. Easy to bus around where you want and the bicycles available for free use were a nice touch.
